Ultrasonic systems can be installed in pipelines to prevent the formation of biofilm that serves to control the adherence of barnacles and mussels.  In Norway, Quattro-DB® ultrasonic devices caused the prevention and to a large degree the detachment of pre-existing blue mussels in a pumping wet well system for seawater cooling water flow.
