The study of micro-algal diversity in fresh waters has become an imminent topic for research because certain of such micro-algal species are considered to be the best of future oil resources, food resources, medicinal and nutraceutical resources and also the best biological means for water purification. How much emphasis is now given to this topic by water researchers world wide? How many have noticed that the micro-algal diversity is lost at a fast rate as an impact of climate change?
