Water logging due to the canals happen when the cannel linings are not constructed properly. Most of the irrigation canals has the problem of water logging. Following remedies can be undertaken for minimizing the problem. 1. Drainage of excess water and providing field drains. 2.Early planting to reduce the excess moisture. 3.Earthing up for better root development. 4.Growing tolerant varieties of the crop, growing varieties with deep root penetration etc..
