Dear Mr. Subbarao: I humbly suggesto you to use the power of Nature, Phytodepuration + The Sun. Constructed Wetlands of HFF (Helophyte Flotating Filter) combined with UV, from the sun for the pathogenic bacteria removal. The limitation for this kind of system is the number of persons it can be used for, due to the area it requires. That area for hot regions it will be minor than in temperate regions. According to the calculations of my mentor D. Jesús Fernández González (http://www.upm.es/observatorio/vi/index.jsp?pageac=investigador.jsp&idInvestigador=6432I ) who has developed the system, it will be feasible in Europe or USA for 15.000 equivalent inhabitants. I thing for India it will be feasible for higher population figures.  If there aren't limitations for the area that can be used for more. Cheap to be built, and cheaper than any other system on its maintenance due to its minimal energy requirements. Regards to @ll.
